The dilemma of exporting power to Bangladesh-I: Should the cost of CO2 emission be factored in as well?
Aug 22: Sembcorp Industries deal with Bangladesh for sale of  250MW of power represents around 19% of Sembcorp Gayatri Power Ltd's (SGPL) 1,320MW installed capacity. The plant has been in losses due to the lack of PPA since the inception of operations.
Some questions are answered here;
8What price was the deal arrived at?
8How will Sembcorp Gayatri Power fare now that the deal is in place?
8Does the deal make sense for India, wherein the CO2 emissions take place within India while the power is supplied at the lowest cost basis to Bangladesh.
8Should such power plants exporting to India pay for the ost of CO2 emissions in India?
