Company-owned vs. hired E&P equipment: Who is winning the debate?
Jul 16:
There was debate at one point in time whether Oil India Ltd or for that matter ONGC should bank more on hired equipment than company-owned equipment 8Exercises done in the past showed that efficiency levels of hired rigs, for example, were higher than those of company-owned rigs 8But the debate has not been put to rest, with both ONGC and OIL now acquiring their own equipment 8OIL’s in-house infrastructure includes one 2D and two 3D seismic crew, 10 logging units, 19 drilling rigs and over 24 work-over rig 8But equipment suppliers can rest easy from the fact that OIL has drawn up ambitious expansion plans and they will need a lot of hired equipment going ahead.
