With high LNG prices playing a spoiler, is government policy to weed out polluting fuels the way to enhance gas consumption?
8Recently, the Gujarat High Court has directed closure of coal gasifiers in the Morbi-Wankaner area which are not complying with approved regulations.
8These and other moves, such as the banning of petcoke in the NCR, will push demand ahead for LNG in India even as high prices act as an impeding factor.
8In the industrial cluster of Morbi itself, there can be a demand for around 5-6mmscmd whereas the current gas sales are a mere 2.5mmscmd, suggesting high growth prospects.
8The same story can play out in other industrial clusters where pipeline connectivity is available.
