Pradhan: Giving away more than what his predecessors did

The petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan has done what all other ministers before him were reluctant to do.
8He has cut his own powers to approve files relating to grant of material increases in cost recovery over given benchmarks.
8But political masters do not want too much of their powers to be curtailed, so Pradhan went some distance but decided not to go the entire length.
8Even so, the minister has considerably lightened up the old E&P regime through a series of reforms, empowering the DGH instead of the bureaucrats in Shastri Bhavan to take decisions.
8The point to be noted however is that the Modi regime remains opposed to freeing up the DGH and making it into a statutory body, like the PNGRB
