Crude and gas output down-I: Long way from reducing import dependence

India is a long way off from reducing its import dependence for crude oil, going by current statistics.
8Crude oil production in December, 2017 was 6.8% lower than target and 2.1% lower when compared with December 2016. There are no immediate signs of a significant upturn in crude production from domestic fields
8On the gas production front too, output is lower than targeted
8Both private and public sector gas output is lower that expected but private production was down by a steep 24% during the month.
