Dec 12: More than India, it is Pakistan that needs gas supplies through a pipeline network from Turkmenistan via the proposed Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline.
8Like India, Pakistan too is hobbled by a two-part gas price policy, one for domestically produced gas and another for LNG.
8The demand-supply gas is big and Pakistan, like India, has an affordability problem.
8There have been some reforms in Pakistan, such as making oil & gas a concurrent subject, that Indian policy makers perhaps emulate to get state government into a more participative mode.
8Eventually, economics will hopefully triumph politics for Pakistan to push ahead with the pipeline
8A deeper understanding of the Pakistan gas sector will keep policy planner in India motivated to keep pushing for the TAPI as well as the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline.
