The Indian gas lobby remains deeply divided.
8There is little or no coordination between the big players such as RIL, BP, GAIL, ONGC, Shell, among others
8There is perhaps no need for coordination as the petroleum ministry remains a biggest votary for a gas-based future for India.
8One part of the gas lobby, headed by BP, has promoted a website which plugs pro-gas stories out of BP's web of global data but the website has attracted little or no public traction.
8A concerted anti-gas lobby, if it ever takes birth in India, can forcibly drive home its agenda, more so as the price of gas in India is high in relation to competing renewable energy options.
