Gas prices to go up-II: Jostling for space with renewables

Even though gas prices are going up, a worrying trend, however, is that gas consumption in the US power sector is down on account of higher renewable output.
8The renewable push is currently coming from enhanced hydropower production
8It is projected however that gas consumption will go up in 2018 but eventually if renewables were to push gas output down in the power sector, it would mean that renewables would directly compete with gas for a share of the electricity market in a country where gas prices are among the lowest in the world
8This will leave incremental gas production to come from industrial, household and petrochemical segments not just in the US but all around the world.
