The coal trading industry is going through a very tough patch.
8Decline in revenues along with deterioration in the working capital metrics has resulted in inadequate cash flows and stretched liquidity
8Revenues have been adversely impacted in the last two years due to an increase in coal production by Coal India Limited (9% in FY2016 on a YoY basis).
8This has lowered the steam coal imports by 10% in FY2016 on a YoY basis.
8The imports have further declined in FY2017 on account of subdued growth in thermal power generation.
8Further, the working capital positions of traders have weakened on account of long pending receivables.
