ONGC's G-4 Sustainability Report: A shoddy piece of work
Apr 03: ONGC, it seems, has graduated to global G-4 Sustainability Reporting Requirements
8The G-4 guidelines call for reporting organizations to disclose their most critical impacts – be they positive or negative – on the environment, society and the economy. They can generate reliable, relevant and standardized information with which to assess opportunities and risks, and enable more informed decision-making -- both within the business and among its stakeholders. G4 is designed to be universally applicable to all organizations of all types and sectors, large and small, across the world.
8ONGC has been cleared for an higher upgrading by the Indian offshoot of DNV GL, a global certification and verification company
8But the document itself has been shoddily prepared with little or no real information on how the oil and gas major is an enterprise with a sustainable development model.
8Even though the benchmarks are clearly spelt out, it looks like there is a lot of leeway in their interpretation by certification agencies.
