Sep 25: BHEL may have lost the big contract for 27 drilling rigs from ONGC but that fact that it emerged as the L-1 bidder to build two workover rigs against competition from Chinese and Italian companies is an indication that the public sector company can put up a good fight.

Oil India awards the Workover Rig Package contract : BHEL emerges as the winner
 
 Oil India Limited's contract for the supply installation and commisioning of 2 workover rigs of  125 ton capacity to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. In the meanwhile, 3 contenders namely BHEL, China based Baoji Oilfield Machinery Co.Ltd, Italy based Well Equipment Internation SRL had bid for the tender amongst which BHEL emerged as the lowest bidder for a bidding amount of Rs 41.68 crores.
