Moving to a post-gas world-II: Where does it leave the gas industry?
Jul 19: If India were to jump from coal to renewable, skipping the intermediate step that involves a partial transition to gas, where will it leave the gas industry?
8For one, the industry has to be united as it is not now.
8The point to understand is that political and public opinion can radically and suddenly change the prospects of an important economic sector like the gas industry.
8The call to move to renewable from gas will resonate sooner than later, and it is time to prepare for it.
8Then again, industry will still have a role to play, albeit a different one from what it does now. It needs a tailored approach to natural gas, so that it is in sync with, instead of being opposed to, the on-going innovation in the energy sector.
8The gas industry should look at smart interactions with other sources of energy. There are ways by which the entire energy supply can become climate-friendly, while also remaining reliable and affordable for all.
