Not paying enough attention to the environment clearance process can delay an E&P project by months if not years. Here are two examples:
8ONGC will see a delay in a Rs 1083 crore 48 well exploratory programme because they failed to hold a public hearing on time after grant of TOR. It has to now seeking a 1-year extension of the TOR
8All RDQs have been delayed
8Project Event: RFQs for the equipment and oilfield chemicals are expected by Q4 2019.

8A Rs 500 crore private sector offshore development has been delayed as the environment clearance was rejected not once but thrice
8Clearly, the choice of the EIA consultant may not have been right
8A bad choice can set the clock back by several months or even longer.
