GAIL CMD B.C. Tripathi had sought a change in the merit order dispatch system for power in India's electricity grid.
8His pitch was for differentiating between high emission emitting coal-based power low emission gas-based electricity.
8Clearly, gas-based power, with bulk of it now going to be benchmarked to the landed cost of LNG, is not in a position to compete with coal based power unless emission is factored into the calculation.
